Most people who have waxed or shaved, have had, at some time in their life an ingrown hair!
Small and unsightly but very painful little critters (literally!) that are caused by a hair growing sideways or curling back into the skin. They can just be a small red bump or a pus filled bump that is inflamed.
Some people are definitely more ‘prone’ to getting ingrown hairs than others, but there are some tried and true methods of preventing them:
- Exfoliation…make sure that 24 hours after your wax you gently exfoliate the area with either a mitt or an exfoliating scrub. Continue to do this each day. This will remove any dead skin cell build up to allow those hairs to grow out of the skin rather than get trapped underneath.
- Make sure you apply a post wax treatment such as Bump Eraiser Medi Paste to calm the area down. Bump Eraiser has Salicylic Acid, Tea Tree Oil, Triclosan and Vitamin A to draw out any infection without causing trauma to the skin.
- Don’t touch it! If the hair can’t be lifted with tweezers without breaking the skin..leave it alone!
